CONNECTED! Seems the older I get, the more being connected means to me. This past weekend, as we celebrated All Saints Day, we were reminded in many ways how we are connected...to God and to each other. As worship began in our "Thanksgiving for Baptism" we not only remembered our own Baptism, where we were connected to God and to the Body of Christ in a special way, but we remembered all who were Baptized here at Our Savior since All Saints Day last year. Then later in worship, we remembered all those who have died since All Saints Day last year, and how we are, by the grace of God connected with all of these, the saints still around us and those who have gone before us. What a blessing to be connected in this way!
That's what the church is, a community of people connected to each other through one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism. This coming weekend we get to celebrate that gift in another way as we receive new members into our congregation at all 3 services, as well as celebrate the confirmation of Jonathan Kroop at our Saturday service.
Looking ahead, some other ways to be connected are our Wednesday suppers at 6pm. Great food and great conversation. Then on Saturday Nov. 22 from 8am til 1pm, our WELCA (Women of the ELCA) ladies will hold their annual Holiday Bazaar. If you can offer any baked goods or homemade candies for the "Bake Sale" part of the Bazaar, bring them by on Friday Nov. 21 between 9am and 3pm.
