A Week Like No Other..........

March 30, 2015

Holy Week brings us to the heart and core of the Christian faith.  It begins with an excitement filled procession and royal welcome.  It then turns into the worst of what betrayal, abandonment, injustice, and the powers of evil can muster up.  They are events which defy any kind of simple explanation, and which reflect the darkest side of a fallen creation.

As I heard in the news just recently about the airliner flown intentionally into a mountainside, killing all aboard, I remember thinking, how horrible, how unfair, how evil...innocent people killed for no reason.  Then I thought of Holy Week and how that is the kind of world God entered.  That is the kind of injustice and evil that brought Jesus to the cross.   No one can say, "God, you don't understand", when we see some kind of horror or injustice, or experience that in a personal way.  God does understand.  He's been there.  But that wasn't the end.

Having walked that road, God raised Him up.  God had the last Word and broke the back of the evil one, so that we can join St. Paul in saying "Nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God".

Please join us this week as we walk this path, from a triumphal entry to the darkest day when the Darkness seemed to have won...then to the true end of the story...which is really then just the beginning of the story.
