Wow!  What a wonderful, amazing end to the season of Lent and entry into the season of Easter! Beginning with the very moving and meaningful services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, followed by the Easter Egg Hunt and all of the great helpers Saturday morning, setting up for the Easter Breakfast and services, then culminating on Easter morning with the Sunrise Service in our Memorial Garden at 7am (picture below) and the 8:30 and 11am services in the church, along with the Easter Breakfast...it was all a wonderful celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord.  So many, many thanks to all who made it possible.  We have so much for which to be grateful.  What a great way to enter the season of Easter

Yes, Easter isn't just one day.  It is a 50 day season where we continue to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, and grow into that new identity as "Easter people".  As Pastor Shelly reminded us, when the Resurrection finds a home in our hearts and lives, and we know that Life is stronger than Death, and Goodness is stronger than Evil, and God's Love is stronger than hatred, we walk differently through life. (Click here to listen to the Easter Sermon)

This first week of Easter finds us drawing on God's Resurrection Life as we both grieve and share our Easter hope with the following families:

Alice Yarick and her family at the passing of her husband, Dick Yarick (service Monday at Strunk funeral home, 11am).

The family of Allan Klotsche, (a deacon and past president of Our Savior, member of the Florida-Bahamas Synod Council, Big Brother Big Sisters board and staff member, among many other things) who died early Maundy Thursday morning.  A service for Allan will be held at 4:30pm on Tuesday April 2 at Our Savior.

The family of Richard Miller, long time member of Our Savior, whose memorial service will be Friday April 5 at 2pm at Our Savior.

As we sang on Easter morning:  "Lo, Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb!  Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom; let his church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting!"  (Click here to listen to that hymn!)

That is the hope we share with each other in our grief, and that is the promise that shapes our lives for whatever time God gives us.

May these 7 weeks of Easter which lie ahead be filled with Hope, Peace, Joy and the Love of our Risen Lord.    See you in church!   Pastor Jack Diehl +  www.oursaviorelca.com
